christopher kane
if new york was minimal, london has certainly proved itself to be its antithesis and where better to see this than christopher kane? poppy neon pastels set the tone this afternoon at kane's much awaited show. and very lady-like too. i love jade parfitt's analogy, "princess margaret on acid"; so true. criticised last season for the monotony of the floral embroidery on leather this time kane made no mistake and really experimented with different materials and styles. it could easily have appeared as though he'd thrown every idea into it but it was concisely edited into a subverted, dramatic, austere and fabulously frivolous collection. his most accomplished yet, it really wasn't just the eye candy, kane really does know his craft.
