marieta chirulescu

chirulescu's abstract mixed-media pieces demonstrate her obsession with borders. the fascination originates from eastern european art where images and text in books were misaligned. for her this signified absence,  materiality and the appropriation of illusion. blurring the boundaries between photography, photocopying, painting and printing chirulescu plays with these processes through repetition. by using diverse processes in each work she highlights the removal of human interaction in art and specifically the use of technological processes in a post-painterly society.
