mary katrantzou

katrantzou's digital printing is certainly one to be reckoned with. you know what to expect every time but yet she still manages to pull something extraordinary out of the proverbial bag. this time she was very clearly inspired by surreal and luxurious interior decor in a somewhat architectural manifesto. of course, it was bold and brash but when is it not? furthermore, when has that ever been a problem for katrantzou? well past the phase of developing her own aesthetic (where some of her contemporaries are still standing) she certainly has that enviable and undeniable style but she really knows how to maintain that without becoming entrenched in the same-old-same-old mary katrantzou. experimenting more now with other materials, cuts and trompe l'oeil (those hip curtains and lampshade skirts!) she has expanded her vision and only appears to be going from strength to strength.
